Red shields

The Red Shields, or the Aethan Dor in the Old Tongue, are the acting
‘police’ of the Aiel. They are often very imposing, serious men, though
they have been known to gather about in droves when the oosquai has been
brought out.

The Red Shields are called upon to escort any uninvited visitors and to
keep a watchful eye over their charges. Often, they are seen guarding
tents that have been set aside for the use of any prisoners taken during
battle. The Red Shields are also well versed mediators, using their skills at
times to lessen the heat of any rising and increasing problems that may rise
amongst the Aiel.
